Choose Columns Fast. Develop Methods Faster.

  • Represents the widest range of reversed phase selectivity available, with just 4 stationary phases: Aqueous C18, IBD, Biphenyl, and PFP Propyl.
  • Simplifies column choice for fast, effective method development.
  • Offers greater control to more easily resolve closely eluting peaks.
  • Maximizes column screening efficiency by ensuring orthogonality between analytical runs.
  • Fits universally on any HPLC or UHPLC instrumentation.

Selectivity is the most influential factor affecting peak separation, or resolution. Restek Ultra Selective Liquid Chromatography™ (USLC™) technology is the directed application of orthogonal selectivity to help the practicing chromatographer develop methods more efficiently and more effectively. The Restek USLC™ column set offers the widest range of selectivity in the industry using just 4 unique stationary phases—Aqueous C18, IBD, Biphenyl, and PFP Propyl—to simplify phase selection.

Restek USLC™ columns are available on two silica lines to accommodate any instrument platform or chromatographic application. Pinnacle® DB columns (1.9 µm) feature base deactivated silica and are recommended for scalable HPLC and UHPLC analyses. Ultra columns (3 and 5 µm) use highest purity silica and are well suited for traditional HPLC analyses.

USLC™ Method Development Toolbox

Beyond C18—Increase Retention of Hydrophilic Compounds Using Biphenyl Columns

The Pinnacle® DB Biphenyl column offers enhanced retention and alternate selectivity for aromatic, unsaturated, and sulfur-containing hydrophilic compounds. Here we demonstrate significantly greater retention of sulfone- and sulfoxide-containing drug probes, compared to phenyl, phenyl hexyl, and alkyl (C18) columns. Only the Biphenyl column, using pi-pi interactions, separated both test probes to k′ > 2, the level needed to ensure separation from unretained matrix contaminants.
