Paul started Restek Corporation in a small business incubator in central Pennsylvania on October 15, 1985. In two
decades, Restek has grown into an international business in gas and liquid chromatography columns and supplies,
with representation in more than 60 countries, with numerous business and community service awards, and earning
Paul admiration and imitation among local, national, and international businesses. Recognitions of Paul’s and
Restek’s accomplishments include Inc. magazine's 500 fastest growing companies (1992 & 1993), top 50 of
Pennsylvania’s Best Companies to Work For (2000 & 2001), and many more. Paul and Restek are key figures
in the Bellefonte-State College region of Centre County, contributing both financially and through service to
numerous organizations.
Paul started Restek with a vision of a workplace where employees were as happy coming to work as going home.
Restek continues to evolve and grow according to this vision. Instilled by Paul, Restek’s Core Values speak
volumes about the character of its leadership and employees. In 2002, Restek took a significant step toward
employee ownership by beginning to contribute all 401k matching funds in company stock, making virtually every
employee an owner of the company. Increasingly, Restek employees have their financial security, and Restek’s
long-term stability, in their own hands. We are well on the path to total employee ownership.
Paul is dedicated to making his community a better place to raise his children, and has been a key figure in
many community organizations, including Chairman of the Board CBICC and a member of their Executive Board of
Directors, President and past Fund Raising Chair for the Fourth of July Fireworks, past Chairman of the
Incubator program, Past Advisory Board member for Schreyer Institute for Innovation and Learning and
Schreyer Honors College, past Chairman of Park Forest YARD (Youth Area Recreational Development) fund raising
effort, member of the Young Presidents Organization, past member of the Young Entrepreneur Organization,
and served on the 1997 State College YMCA Fund Raising Committee. Additionally, he has been a guest speaker
for numerous local, Penn State University, and statewide leadership programs, and is active in his church
and his children’s schools. He is an avid mountain biker, ATV enthusiast, skier, roller blader, hunter,
and Penn State fan.
In 2005, Paul’s role at Restek shifted from active leader to experienced advisor, giving him time to tackle
new challenges, including a return to his roots as an inventor and creator of exciting new products that will
strengthen Restek’s leadership position in the chromatography marketplace. Wherever these challenges lead,
Paul will pursue with the same sense of purpose that has propelled Restek so far, so quickly.
In stepping down from his role as Restek’s Head Coach, Paul expressed a heartfelt thank you to all the loyal
customers who supported Restek over the past 20 years, and who continue to support us as we get better and better
at being The Company Chromatographers Trust!
