Could a Viton® O-ring bleed fluoranthene and pyrene?
Yes. New Viton® O-rings can bleed compounds like these, and others that can be detected (by mass spectrometry, for example). However, this bleed usually disappears quickly with use, within just a few runs. If bleed from Viton® O-rings is a persistent problem (e.g., for applications such as EPA methods 8310, 8270, or 610), we recommend switching to graphite O-rings.
