Chromatographers understand the benefits of using smaller ID columns--as column ID decreases, column efficiency increases. However, smaller bore columns have lower sample capacity. The use of a smaller ID column is not always an option when analyzing high concentration samples, performing purity analysis, or using an inletting system such as a purge and trap, headspace analyzer, or gas sampling valve, each of which requires higher column flow rates for optimum performance.
Restek 0.45mm ID columns offer increased column efficiency, high sample capacity, and compatibility with all injection techniques, and achieve faster analysis times than 0.53mm ID columns.
These 0.45mm ID columns have the same outside diameter as our 0.53mm ID columns, so there is no need for special-sized ferrules. Listed below are some common stationary phases offered in 0.45mm ID.
