A new low concentration organic analytical method for Superfund--and the latest revision to the US EPA CLP methods--OLC03.2 has made changes necessary in the calibration standards. The revision requires quantitative measurements for 50 volatile organic compounds, including nine new compounds: cyclohexane, dichlorofluoromethane, isopropylbenzene, methyl acetate, methyl
tert-butyl ether, methylcyclohexane, 1,2,3-trichlorobenzene, 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane, and trichlorofluoromethane. In addition, the OLC03.2 method for volatile compounds requires addition of 14 deuterated monitoring compounds to the volatile sample, which then is purged with an inert gas. The volatiles purged from the sample are trapped and desorbed into a GC/MS system.
All newly added compounds are included in the new Restek MegaMix® reference mix. We prepare the MegaMix® mix in purge & trap grade methanol at a convenient 2000µg/mL concentration. We have included coeleuting
m-xylene and
p-xylene at half the concentration of the other compounds. By using the MegaMix® mix, you can save the time and expense involved in running a second calibration in order to quantify these isomers at the required limit.
We also offer a new reference material containing all 14 deuterated monitoring compounds specified in OLC03.2. The two new reference materials, used in conjunction with our Volatile Internal Standard Mix, make a complete set of volatile reference materials for new OLC03.2 SOW.
